Welcome to Kris Quinones Massage

Experience Effective Approaches and Practical Everyday Aspects to Maintaining Your Health.

With Kris Quinones, in Somerville, MA you will discover safe and natural ways to positively impact your health. Learn how to identify root causes of your pain or discomfort - whether physical or emotional - and participate in your treatment plan to make lasting changes. Through an integrated approach using Therapeutic Massage, Ayurveda, and Vinyasa Yoga you'll discover a different way of living, with lasting effects. So your life can be too.

Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology

With years of experience as an Orthopedic Assistant and competitive athlete, Kris applies her strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and how the body moves to each massage session. Understand the broader view of an injury and which muscle groups are being affected. Learn warning signs and how to prevent long term damage from repetitive movements. Various therapeutic massage techniques can improve range of motion, manage scar tissue, reduce pain or edema, help manage the symptoms of neuropathy, and lower high blood pressure.

The Art of Longevity

"Ayurveda is a science of truth as it is expressed in life," says Dr. Vasant Lad. "It encompasses not only science but philosophy as well, with beliefs and disciplines..." Kris Quinones offers safe and natural Panchakarma therapies and other classic Ayurvedic bodywork when you need deep restoration or rejuvenation of your body's systems. Or schedule a tutorial and receive hands on instruction in daily routines that will slow the natural aging process. This kind of bodywork approach addresses root causes of imbalance and provides lasting benefits with little or no side effects. When used in conjunction with Lifestyle Consulting and Asana, benefits include normalizing blood sugar levels and digestive systems, improved sleep, reduced anxiety, strengthened immunity and lower levels of environmental toxins absorbed by the body.

The Eight-Limbed Path

In Sri K. Pattabhi Jois' book, Yoga Mala, he says, "Physical strength, mental strength, and the strength of the sense organs - all these are very important. Without them, one cannot attain spiritual strength" (pp 22). Trained in the foundations of O2 Yoga, Kris offers a strength building yoga practice, inspired by Ashtanga Yoga's Eight-limbed path. This purposeful, athletic vinyasa style blends anatomical specificity with energetic principles and Ayurvedic ethos. Private and semi-private yoga lessons can be customized to help you reach a specific goal. Practice how to direct your energy in a specific way and reap the benefit of being able to hear your True Self.

  • Part yogi and part massage therapist, Kris always finds the source of my pain and helps scatter it. She's especially good at working on my hips and sacrum. I limp in and glide out. It's pretty incredible.
    - Amy S. (Somerville, MA)
  • Kris has been my massage therapist for a while now. Great massage with a focus on what ails at the time of the visit. My wife and I have been clients for at least 3 years and travel just over an hour to get there, but it is worth the drive!
    - Stewart T. (Canton, MA)
  • ...Kris definitely works WITH you to get to the bottom of whatever ails you, adapting to your needs or preferences for the day. She is a great healer, listener, and knows her stuff. And if she doesn't, she's not afraid to refer you to someone else. Kris also gives me tips for my day-to-day life to help maintain the work accomplished. Yes, massage can get expensive, but if you get her e-newsletter or watch her website, she is always offering deals and packages.
    - Carly Z (Boston, MA)
  • I always forget to go get massages until I can't move something...at all....like my neck or my whole back, just as an example. Kris has re-mobilized me on more than one occasion. She's like the oooiiil caaaan to my tin man and I'm so glad to have found her. She's thorough, personable, and I get the impression that she matches her level of chatty to your level of chatty as best she can. I'm kinda chatty.
    - Kelly G. (Boston, MA)
  • I just wanted to say thank you once again. That it was seriously, probably, the best bodywork session I've ever received. I needed it on so many levels. Looking forward to our next session.
    - Michelle M. (Boston, MA)
  • I came in with a severe headache that lasted for the past two weeks with eye pain and droopiness - I am a medical student and had the best care possible from several doctors as well as had head imaging done. It was not until I had my massage with Kris that my headache and eye pain resolved. It was unmistakably a correlation - the night I came in to see her I was in tremendous pain. The next morning I felt back to my usual self, that which had not been the case for the past 2 weeks. Thanks Kris!
    - Ashiyana N. (Cambridge, MA)
  • I am so grateful for Kris. I've had abhyanga and shirodhara in England, India, Austria etc. I can't quite describe it, but in both sessions I felt that she had a real intuition, a great sense of compassion and respect for my body. I have post traumatic stress disorder and after two sessions I haven't needed my Atavan, experienced a single flashback, and my nightmares have reduced greatly. Kris and her treatments really give me hope, that combined with my current therapy, I can be free of PTSD and body dismorphia. I didn't think it would be such a large piece of my healing.
    - P.P. (Somerville, MA)
  • I credit Kris with relieving some severe sciatica and associated problems, allowing me to rejoin my spring hockey season. She has a great sense of what makes up an injury--my sciatica left me with several--and honed right in on critical spots without much if any advice from me during sessions. If I ever have any other injury which might need such therapy, I'll go to Kris.
    - Sean D. (Mid-Cambridge, MA)
  • I don't get massages very often but recently I saw Kris, who really helped me with soreness and weakness I was having in my arm due to repetitive strain injury. It felt noticeably better and stronger after just one half-hour session.
    - Martha S. (Somerville, MA)
  • I bought a 90 minute Couples Instructional Massage as a birthday present for my girlfriend and Kris was fantastic at making us comfortable. I honestly didn't think I was gonna to learn as much as I did today and I would have happily paid more for what I received. You will not be disappointed!
    - Jay G. (North Providence, RI)
  • I can't tell you how much better I felt overall, what a nice complement it was to the cleanse I was doing. I went home and the next several days it was like my crown chakra was just wide open. I felt so light, connected, eager for life, full of possibilities!
    - A. Wilson
  • I have embarked on a series of deep tissue massage treatments with Kris for a specific focus related to a sports injury. I've seen her twice now and have been very favorably impressed with both her skill and her level of knowledge and direct experience in the anatomy of my injury and the challenges of my recovery...She has proven to be an excellent diagnostician and thoughtful in terms of matching provider skills to client needs.
    - J. Hodges (Cambridge, MA)
  • I invited Kris to speak at my Intercultural communication class, while exploring a thematic unit dealing with cultural differences in health care practices, including the origins, treatment, and prevention of disease. She clearly sees teaching as personal and interactive. She is not the 'sage on the stage' but rather a 'guide on the side' who helps students explore issues with honesty, sensitivity, and imagination - issues that encourage development of the whole self and unite body, mind, and spirit.
    - P. Gardner, Professor (Berklee College of Music, Boston)
  • I came in with two particular points of pain and marveled at how Kris was able to find them. One in particular...inside the left abdominal wall...I think most massage therapists would not have been able to figure out. She has a tactile sense that allows her to identify where the muscle is injured before I say anything...
    - M. Higgins (Somerville, MA)
  • Kris clearly has a gift. She is sensitive and intuitive. She knows what's going on without my saying anything. Some people just have 'the touch'. She's one of them. I feel wonderful. Thank you, Kris!
    - Nathan R. (Somerville, MA)
  • I just had a fantastic deep tissue massage with Kris. You really get the full experience here - peaceful music, zen decor, heated cushy massage table, nice smelling oils, etc. I came in with high expectations and was not disappointed. Kris was very knowledgeable and professional, listening to what I needed. Highly recommended. Price was normal for a high-quality massage place like this.
    - Miles R. (Somerville, MA)
  • Kris was wonderful--she was knowledgeable, friendly, and effective!
    - R. Hamilton (Brighton, MA)
  • If you're looking for healing energy work, do check out the Ayurvedic bodywork from Kris. I had an Abhyanga treatment. She was thorough in preparing me for the experience, her energy was grounded and peaceful, and the treatment was excellent.
